I wanted to share with you a little about something I'm really passionate about: my 'Kevin' hermit crab sculptures. You know, I've always been fascinated by hermit crabs and how they find these incredible shells to call home. It got me thinking – what if I could create something that represented that, but with a twist? What if the 'home' was made from bone, the very structure of life?
The idea just struck me one day. It's ironic, isn't it? Hermit crabs borrow shells, while my 'Kevins' are made from bone, the internal 'home.' I made my first 'Kevin' back in 2021, and honestly, it was a bit of an experiment. But it sparked something in me. I loved the process of taking ethically sourced bones and transforming them into these whimsical little creatures. Each one has its own personality, its own story. I've always been drawn to the beauty of nature, and I wanted to create something that honored that. I love to find shells and other natural elements to add to them.

It's a very personal process for me, and I pour a lot of love into each one. All the Kevin's I have made are with collectors that feel strongly about their collections. I love that they are so well loved. I'm currently working on a new series of 'Kevins.' I don't have any finished pieces to show you just yet, but I have a wonderful horde of shells and other materials that I'm excited to work with. I can't wait to see what they become.
